The roll-out of COVID-19 vaccinations by the Federal, State and Territory Governments is continuing, as is debate about various workplace relations and Work Health and Safety issues.

On 11 September, amendments to the Fair Work Act 2009 (FW Act) and Sex Discrimination Act 1984 came into operation. The legislation implements some of the key recommendations of the Respect@Work Report of the Sex Discrimination Commissioner, Kate Jenkins. The Report followed an extensive National Inquiry into Sexual Harassment in Australian Workplaces conducted by the Australian Human Rights Commission in 2018.

Under the casual employment amendments to the FW Act that came into effect on 27 March 2021 there were some important obligations that employers needed to comply with by 27 September 2021.
