Ai Group is committed to reconciliation — the process of strengthening relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous peoples, for the benefit of all Australians.

As a membership organisation, we recognise the importance of advocating for the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

While we still have much work to do, we are proud of the steps we have taken in our reconciliation journey so far. They include:

  • providing services to assist the employment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in apprenticeships, traineeships and other job opportunities;
  • fostering relationships with local Indigenous communities and organisations and seeking their guidance and input on our business practices. This includes creating opportunities for meaningful dialogue, partnership and collaboration and supporting Indigenous-led initiatives;
  • partnering with Supply Nation and the First Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry to promote engagement with and growth of Indigenous businesses;
  • using our voice to advocate greater flexibility and diversity in the Australian workplace relations system;
  • installing plaques in all Ai Group offices acknowledging the traditional owners of the land;
  • providing guidance to Ai Group employees on Acknowledgement of Country/Welcome to Country protocols and
  • commissioning an artwork by an Indigenous artist to celebrate our reconciliation journey.

We recognise that reconciliation is an ongoing journey. It reminds us that generations of Australians have fought hard for meaningful change, but ongoing effort is required for future gains.

We are committed to monitoring and reporting on our progress towards reconciliation and hold ourselves accountable for making meaningful and sustained change.
