Fatigue is more than feeling tired or drowsy. It is an acute and/or ongoing state of tiredness that leads to mental or physical exhaustion and prevents people from functioning within normal boundaries. Fatigue can be caused by work-related factors, factors outside work and/or a combination of both, and may accumulate over time. It has obvious implications for workplace and public safety.
