Under the NES, an employee who takes a continuous 12-month period of unpaid parental leave may request an extension for a further period of up to 12 months. This additional period must be taken continuously with the previous period of leave. This template letter is designed to assist employers to comply with the NES requirements when responding to requests from 6 June 2023.
