The Sample Technology Use in the Workplace Policy outlines the appropriate use of a technology in the workplace, including AI, ICT systems and devices and social media. Use of workplace technology creates many risks in the workplace, including to information security. It can also be a medium for unlawful conduct under workplace relations and other laws. This policy attempts to set guardrails for workers so they understand what they can and cannot do and, if the worker is aware of and understands the policy (and it is applied consistently), may also be a legitimate basis for disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment or engagement. This policy has been expressed to apply to ‘workers’ which is a broader concept than “employee” as the workplace is likely to have contractors, volunteers and other staff who are not “employees” and who use technology.
