Abandonment of employment is a form of termination of employment at the employee’s initiative. Abandonment of employment occurs when an employee does not attend work for a prolonged period of time without notice or reasonable explanation, leading to an inference that the employee does not intend to return to work. This policy has been developed to assist Ai Group members in addressing and developing procedures around abandonment of employment.
