There are currently over 20 FTAs in operation or under discussion. Australia negotiates FTAs to benefit Australian exporters, importers, producers and investors by reducing and eliminating certain barriers to international trade and investment.
FTAs are supported by a robust and effective set of local standards that also adopt appropriate international standards. Our local standards are also critical to facilitating downstream compliance responsibilities placed on industry by regulators, especially in the construction sector and through the implementation of the digital economy.
