The New South Wales Government is investigating whether restrictions on retail activities on Anzac Day should be extended. Currently retailers, unless specifically exempted from the restrictions, are prohibited from being open for shopping and in-store browsing and cannot make deliveries, receive deliveries, stock shelves or stocktake prior to 1pm on Anzac Day. A range of specified shops and very small retailers are permitted to operate as normal during the restricted hours.

Ai Group consulted with members in preparing our submission in which we argue against any extension of the restrictions on retailers on Anzac Day beyond 1pm and any reduction in the range of exemptions currently available.
