The Community Services Sector (Portable Long Service Leave) Bill 2024 passed the NSW Parliament on 20 June 2024 and awaits Royal Assent.

It establishes a portable long service leave scheme for certain workers in the community sector. The scheme will give eligible workers an entitlement to long service leave based on their service in the sector, regardless of the number of times they change employers.

Workers will be entitled to 6.1 weeks’ paid leave after 7 years’ employment.

The Government has indicated its intention to start the scheme on 1 July 2025.
