Legislative amendments
• Western Australia, Tasmania and the Commonwealth have made changes to their WHS regulations to include specific requirements in relation to the management of psychosocial hazards and risks.
• Tasmania has amended its workers compensation legislation to increase the period of time a worker will be entitled to compensation if injured approaching, or after pension age, from 12 months to 2 years. The legislation also amends the definition of occupational firefighter for the purposes of the Act.
Workers’ Compensation NSW
• icare has established new contracts for claims service providers and new panels for workplace rehabilitation, medicolegal and investigations services.
Reviews and Public Comment
• Queensland – Review of the workers’ compensation scheme Terms of reference for five year review of The Workers' Compensation and Rehabilitation Act 2003 (the Act) have been released.
• South Australia – Review of SafeWork SA
The final report of the review, together with the government’s response have now been released.
