NAT 025/19: Christmas Eve part-day public holiday declared in Queensland:

The Queensland Parliament has varied the Holidays Act 1983 (QLD) to declare a part-day public holiday in the State of Queensland between 6.00pm and midnight on Christmas Eve. The Queensland Government proceeded with the legislative amendments despite Ai Group’s strong objections and our detailed analysis of the major cost impact upon employers.

The Fair Work Commission (FWC) has scheduled proceedings to determine what changes should be made to the Part-day Public Holiday Schedule which is included in most modern awards. The Schedule addresses how particular award provisions apply in respect of part-day public holidays.
