"Today's landmark report by the Productivity Commission lays out a difficult but critical path out of the low income growth state of Australia’s economy," Innes Willox, Chief Executive of the national employer association Ai Group said today.

"It deserves a detailed and constructive response by the Federal Government setting out how Australia will move to address low wages growth underpinned by a recent productivity growth record that is little short of pathetic.

"Ai Group, on behalf of our members, is keen to engage in addressing the barriers and creating the opportunities set out in the report.

"The challenges presented by the imperative to reach net zero emissions while also striving for a sustainable uplift in living standards are imposing. Yet we have little choice but to recognise and overcome the role that low productivity growth has played and continues to play in limiting our ability to meet these challenges.

"We urge the Federal Government to redouble its determination to pursue a positive skills agenda while also picking up on the Commission's other recommendations to lift our performance," Mr Willox said.
