The Australian Industry Group welcomes the launch today of a new security guide for the Defence industry – Working Securely with Defence – by the Minister for Defence Industry Melissa Price and the National President of the Australian Industry Group, Chris Jenkins.
The Guide has been developed in partnership with the Government and Defence to assist small to medium enterprises build their security credentials and help them enter the Defence Industry Security Program.
"Today more than ever, the Australian Defence industry is critical in the delivery of essential capability for the Australian Defence Force. Companies throughout the supply chain must have the right security credentials in place to protect defence and industry information and assets,” Innes Willox, Chief Executive of the national employer association Ai Group, said today.
"Threats to the security of Defence and industry are increasingly pervasive and alarming. Having the right security capabilities in place is essential for all business, and none more so than in the Defence sector. The Guide brings together a wealth of relevant information on industry tips, case studies, links to relevant resources, assistance, contacts and templates.
"Ai Group is committed to helping build a more secure and resilient Defence industry through our Ai Group Defence Council and the partnerships we have built with Government and Defence. We aim to help improve business security posture, and there will no doubt be benefits across a range of sectors as businesses engage both in Defence and non-Defence work.
"This Guide was only made possible through our strong and collaborative partnership between Defence and our Defence Council industry members, industry associations and other partners. We would especially like to thank all those involved, who shared their time, knowledge, expertise, experience and insights in contributing to the development of this Guide," Mr Willox said.
