An Australian voice is to lead a coalition of national business associations from around the world to represent the interests of industry to the G20 nations as the world looks at life beyond COVID-19.
The Global Business Coalition (GBC) has appointed Innes Willox, Chief Executive of the national employer association Ai Group as its new President.
Mr Willox said: "This Presidency is an opportunity for Australia through Ai Group to contribute to dealing with the significant challenges for the global business community presented by COVID-19. These challenges relate to the movement of people and goods, the roll out of vaccines, the development of the skills we need, the propensity for protectionism and the rise of geo-political tensions. Some of our global norms and accepted practices are being pressured but business needs to be at the centre of the discussions that will shape the world's responses in the years ahead."
The GBC brings together 15 leading independent business associations from the major world economies and advocates on behalf of more than 6.8 million small, medium and large companies. The GBC was established in 2012 and operates as a worldwide platform for exchanges between national business communities, and aims at building consensus and developing common positions on issues critical for enterprises. Through its broad-based representation, the GBC engages policy-makers at a global scale and advocates policies that contribute to growth and job creation at regional and international levels.
