The Manufacturing Industry Skills Alliance, the Jobs and Skills Council for manufacturing, is responsible for identifying, building and ensuring the delivery of the workforce skills that modern manufacturing and its associated industries need to succeed.

Ai Group is a core member of the Manufacturing Alliance, which is currently developing its workforce plan and is particularly keen to understand if the challenges outlined in initial work accurately reflect the issues the sector is facing. Click this link for an excerpt of the initial workforce plan.

The Manufacturing Alliance welcomes input on the following key challenges:

  • Attracting a workforce to manufacturing
  • The ageing workforce and impending skills retirement cliff
  • Lack of diversity in the manufacturing talent pool
  • Relevant, future-focused skills deepening and reskilling – the need for broader and more consistent skills development that meets demand for emerging industries throughout careers
  • What changes does industry foresee to the manufacturing workforce because of changes in government regulation, energy costs, technological changes, economic conditions, and other global risks?

You can have your say in the following ways:
1. Complete a survey: it takes 10 minutes to fill out the survey; OR
2. Send an email with your input: to solutions@manufacturingalliance.org.au with views, commentary and other questions, OR
3. Request a meeting: for a more personalised discussion, you can request a meeting by contacting solutions@manufacturingalliance.org.au

Feedback is requested by 15 March.

The feedback received on this plan will greatly assist the Manufacturing Alliance to produce a more comprehensive workforce plan to support Australian manufacturing.
