Businesses will soon be able to plot a path to Games glory and access the many opportunities the 2032 Brisbane Olympic and Paralympic Games will deliver.

Speaking to The Australian Industry Group, the new CEO of the Brisbane 2032 Coordination Office, Graham Fraine, said there would soon be a next step in the way Australian and Queensland businesses can engage with the Games process.

Mr Fraine said within the next couple of months there would be further information released so "we can continue our dialogue with industry and ensure Queensland businesses are at the front of the line when it comes to future procurement".

He suggested businesses could prepare by becoming “Games fit”, and familiarising themselves with the  Queensland Government’s Procurement Policy (QPP).

“We are likely to follow the same themes of the QPP, so businesses can look to this as a guide,’’ Mr Fraine said.

Sustainability and the environment will feature heavily in the tender process as well as Diversity,  Equity and Inclusion in the workforce.

“Areas such as First Nations people participation in the workforce, either directly or in the supply chain will be advantageous to businesses when tendering,’’ he said.

As has been well documented, the Queensland Government will look to use as many Queensland-based companies as possible and future engagement will be on a number of levels.

Mr Fraine said while there will be high-level engagement with major contractors, who could then activate their supply chains, there would also be instances where there will be direct engagement with suppliers as work packages come on-line.

The Brisbane 2032 Coordination Office has oversight of nine program areas, including those relating to venues and villages, sustainability, transport and legacy, and Mr Fraine is focussed on effectively managing the interdependencies.

He said it was important to manage timing and pace in a process which was “both a sprint and a marathon”.

“It is also important to continue to grow community interest and support over a long period, particularly when we are still effectively in the planning stage.”

Mr Fraine said getting the planning right was vital to ensure a smooth delivery.
