Victorian Skills Plan released

The Victorian Government released its updated Victorian Skills Plan for 2023 into 2024 on 24 October 2023. The plan is produced by the Victoria Skills Authority and provides data about workforce needs across all industries and occupations across the state, including in the regions.

These data and the insights about workforce trends , challenges and opportunities within industries and across Victoria contained in the report underpin government policy decisions and enable the training sector to plan future activities. The report also contains recommendations for government, including:

• Promoting skills and careers pathways,
• Lifting participation rates,
• Working on options to trial new approaches to designing VET qualifications through local accreditation arrangements,
• Pursuing self-accreditation for TAFE providers and better collaboration between TAFEs and universities, and
• Developing approaches and principles to embed applied research in training delivery.
