The Queensland Government has announced a new Trade to Teach Internship Program pilot to provide a supported pathway into teaching for tradespeople who want to become Industrial Technology and Design (ITD) teachers. The new pilot offers:

  • a $20,000 scholarship in the first year of study of an undergraduate teaching degree at a partner university
  • internship employment (with a half teaching load) in a Queensland secondary state school (on a full-time intern wage of approx. $66,000 per annum) for the second and remaining years of study
  • access to a community of practice and dedicated ITD mentor to support professional practice
  • a permanent position in a Queensland State School upon graduation and provisional registration as a teacher.
