Ai Group has welcomed the new five-year National Skills Agreement, which was signed by every state and territory government with the Commonwealth Government in October.
The agreement provides an additional $3.7 billion in federal funding to the national vocational education and training sector to address a number of key priorities including: gender equality, Closing the Gap, the transition to net-zero, digital and technology capability, sovereign capability and food security, and reforms to improve the regulation of VET qualifications and quality.
The new National Skills Agreement is a potential game-changer as Australia races to develop and deliver the future-focused skills our economy needs. Ai Group encourages the States and Territories to fully engage with the Agreement and to make the most of this historic and economy-changing plan.
Delivering a high performing training system is critically important to addressing our poor productivity performance and it will enable us to meet current and emerging challenges while increasing real incomes.
The Agreement could not be more timely but needs to be implemented well and swiftly.
