The Centre’s August webinar explored Will Australia have the skills for a clean economy? A recording of the webinar can be found here.
The webinar also drew attention to two significant activities addressing skill needs for a clean economy.
Net Zero Australia Project
The Net Zero Australia is a collaborative research partnership between the University of Melbourne, the University of Queensland, Princeton University and management consultancy Nous Group. Its groundbreaking Net Zero Australia study applies Princeton University’s Rapid Switch framework to the Australian context, identifying detailed pathways and infrastructure requirements by which Australia can transition to net zero emissions and become a major exporter of low emission energy and products by 2050.
Energise Your Career
The Clean Energy Council has released a Careers Guide which provides a snapshot of the roles and careers that exist in the Australian clean energy sector across wind, solar (both utility-scale and rooftop), hydro and batteries. It highlights where the demand for certain skills or experience is high and where a critical or niche skills gap exists. It demystifies the pathways into a career in clean energy. It also provides insight into emerging career opportunities in technologies such as electric vehicles, bioenergy, offshore wind and hydrogen.
