A Probation Performance Development Plan is a structured approach to support and evaluate an employee’s progress during their probationary period.

The plan supports the new employee to meet required performance expectations during the induction and probation period. It is designed to provide an appropriate framework to show the worker how success will be achieved and how the organisation will support them in reaching desired objectives.

The employee should take ownership; however, the leader must work in partnership for optimum results. Some employees are scared of whether they will ‘pass their probation’, so it is imperative that this is positioned as one of the tools to support them in reaching this goal as opposed to a test or assessment.

This Sample: Probation Performance Development Plan discusses the following components:

  • Probation period overview
