Halloween – tips for trick-or-treating

"Halloween in Australia has evolved into a popular community activity that engages whole families and can be fun for all. But it's also important to keep safe, have some rules and ensure the kids know how to celebrate this event," Tim Piper, Head of the Australian Industry Group (Ai Group) in Victoria and its Confectionery Sector said today.

"Whatever you do this Halloween, if your celebrations involve 'trick or treating' and the sharing of confectionery, remember Be treatwise® with these five steps:

  1. Make a plan – help your children make smart decisions when it comes to the enjoyment of Halloween treats
  2. Eat before you go out – have a healthy snack before you hit the streets for trick-or-treating
  3. Keep it safe – take a responsible adult with you
  4. Understand confectionery treat portions – some for now, some for sharing, some for later
  5. Embrace balance – by being physically active

"And importantly, have fun with the kids and your neighbours!," Mr Piper said.
