Risk assessment is understanding and sometimes rating how serious a given risk might be for a worker. Primarily, a risk assessment identifies the chance of harm or loss occurring due to a hazard. They may be formal and written or be an informal appraisal by a worker prior to a job occurring, to determine if any further controls are required to keep themselves safe.
