Health and Safety Resource Centre

Long term exposure to loud noise is the most common preventable cause of hearing loss. Too much noise at work can lead to temporary or permanent hearing loss or tinnitus—ringing in the ears. Hearing damage can occur from extended exposure to noise or exposure to very loud impact or explosive sounds.

This Toolbox Talk Topic will provide information on how to identify noise hazards and how to prevent hearing loss. This topic is relevant to any workplace that may expose workers to noise hazards.

Once the Toolbox Talk is completed and employees have been consulted, and had their views heard, records of discussions and actions should be recorded in the Toolbox Talk Record Form.
