Workplace emergencies are unexpected but they can be planned for. Importantly, organisations must ensure their workers are safe, particularly in an emergency such as a fire.
An effective Emergency Preparedness Program requires planning, training and regular refresher training in emergency activities such as evacuations, so that everyone is able to exit the workplace safely if the worst occurs.
Evacuation drills should be completed at least annually. This Emergency Evacuation Drill Checklist should be used to record the evacuation drill and to identify any issues or if improvements could be made to the evacuation process. It is too late once an emergency happens to notice a problem with the pathways or access issues for mobility impaired persons.
Ai Group can assist with developing an Emergency Preparedness Program for your organisation to ensure the safety of your workers during a critical event.
