Even when an applicant is unsuccessful in the securing the position, it is imperative that employers demonstrate a high quality of candidate care. The candidate may not be successful in the position on this occasion, but they may be a customer of the organisation or a potential future employee in a different position. When candidates have taken the time and energy to invest in applying for a position, they deserve to be dealt with in a timely and respectful manner. When applicants have progressed through a few stages and are then unsuccessful, it is always recommended that the employer ring the candidate to deliver the news personally. This shows ownership of the decision and allows for applicant to have closure. If the employer chooses not to contact the applicant via the telephone/video call, this email can be used to notify job applicants that they have been unsuccessful in their application following an interview process.
