The Sample Interview Questions are provided as a guide and may be modified to suit specific requirements. Appropriate questions should be selected based on the selection criteria for the position. Through the planning of appropriate questions, employers can ensure that structured interview techniques are applied, which can produce higher levels of reliability and vailidity than unstructured interviews (i.e. interviews which are unplanned and involve free flowing conversation).

Many of the questions are designed as behavioural type questions (questions which ask candidates to provide a past example or situation and require the applicant to assess their response to the situation), which have shown to have the best predictor of future behaviour.

Where a question has multiple parts, remember to allow sufficient pauses to enable the applicant to respond to each part or use the various parts as probing questions.
