There is no one single model for Workforce Planning. The template sets out a guideline for undertaking a Workforce Planning process, taking the organisation through a 5 stage process or cycle.
The template asks a series of basic questions that the organisation needs to answer based on its business plan, challenges and environment. It may be that the preliminary analysis below indicates that the organisation should ask even more questions. This will be particular to the organisation and industry.
Organisations may use the notes section below to record answers to questions, identify reference documents, action points and areas where further research may be required. Organisations may then use the notes to document a Workforce Planning Action Plan identifying goals, actions, measures, stakeholders and accountabilities.
A separate template for Action Planning can be used to record actions and keep track of progress on actions. The Action Planning template should also be incorporated into any final comprehensive Workforce Action Plan.
