With the festive season nearly upon us, most workplaces will host celebratory gatherings and adopt a more relaxed atmosphere.

Unfortunately, this may lead to employees forgetting they are still 'in the workplace' and interacting with colleagues. Behaviour during this period, including at end of year celebrations, can and does often give rise to issues such as bullying, harassment, discrimination, and workers' compensation liability.

Employers who do not plan ahead may find themselves held vicariously liable for their employees' conduct. Steps can (and should) be taken to manage risks and ensure suitable preparations are made well in advance.

This webinar will set out some key principles and provide practical guidance and recommendations in relation to:

  • approaching end of year celebratory events, including events held online;
  • where to draw the line between having fun and inappropriate conduct when interacting online with colleagues; and
  • employer obligations with respect to bullying, harassment, discrimination and WHS matters, including relevant Respect@Work considerations.

Case studies will be provided, highlighting where employers have got it right and the consequences of getting it wrong.

This webinar is ideal for HR managers, HR staff and operational managers, who will organise, oversee or take part in the events, and manage any complaints arising from those events.
