The Hazardous Chemicals Register must list all hazardous substances used, stored and produced at the workplace. Copies of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) should be kept near where hazardous chemicals are used and stored so they can be referred to in the event of an accidental exposure or spill. Safety Data Sheets may be obtained from your chemical supplier or sourced from the internet.
The register should be reviewed regularly, for example when chemicals used are changed, when the classification of substances changes or when SDS are due to be renewed.
If you have problems getting copies of SDS’s, Ai Group's Safety and Workers' Compensation Team may be able to assist.
