Most employers would understand that making the decision to retire for many employees is not an easy one. Whilst some employees may have an age in mind when they would like to retire, for example 65 years of age, often finances play a large factor in influencing the decision, and for some the choice is taken out of their hands if they begin to experience deteriorating health.

The fact to take into consideration is that people are working longer, but many of those people are looking for a bridge between fulltime employment and something less than fulltime.
