The selection process implemented by an employer will depend on the circumstances surrounding the redundancy. A redundancy may affect a position that is only performed by one employee, in which case no selection process will need to be undertaken. In contrast, where there are many employees performing in the same position, the employer will need to select an employee for redundancy from a pool of employees.
