During a redundancy process, redeployment and obtaining acceptable alternative employment are separate but inter-related concepts. Redeployment is significant for the purposes of the “genuine redundancy” definition and unfair dismissal, whereas whether an employer obtains acceptable alternative employment for the employee is a factor that may result in a reduction in an employer’s obligation to pay redundancy pay.
