Having to make an employee redundant is often a difficult and emotional experience for both the affected employee and the employer. Where employers are undertaking a redundancy process, it is recommended that outplacement services should be considered as part of the overall redundancy package.

If outplacement services are used then it is appropriate for organisations to introduce an Outplacement Support Policy.
