It is recommended that organisations engage with the broader employee group early to advise them that a Smoke Free Policy is being considered.

This can be done through multiple methods; however, it is always wise to put this intention in writing either through a letter or email.  This can be an effective way to plant the seed with employees that the business is taking a strong focus on health and wellbeing. Advising employees of the intention is only the beginning of the consultation process, however is sets a transparent tone for change and is useful in building trust.

This letter is a sample only and organisations are encouraged to tailor to suit their needs.
