Employee engagement and retention is challenging. Many businesses focus on the ‘onboarding’ process but it is also important to leave a good impression as employees exit the organisation and a commitment to an appropriate exit interview process can enhance an employer’s brand and reputation.
Due to digitalisation, remote workforces, time constraints and employee preference, exit interviews are increasingly being done online however, if possible, a face to face exit interview is preferred as this may encourage a more consultative approach. This sample policy is written to provide guidance on conducting the exit interview and can be adapted for different delivery methods.
This policy is a sample only and may be tailored to suit individual business needs. Further information can be found in our Exit interview article. Members should seek advice from Ai Group’s Workplace Advice Line (1300 55 66 767) before customising this policy.
