The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted businesses in a variety of ways. Some businesses have been required to close completely.

Among the host of disruptions to businesses caused by the outbreak of COVID-19 was the widespread directive from government and health sources that if an employee was able to stay home and work, they should do so.

State and territory governments are starting to discuss the possibility of easing restrictions on movement and returning employees to work. Employers are now faced with the question of when and how they intend to make the transition back to the office for those employees that were working from home once restrictions are eased.

It is vital that organisations are aware of and follow official government requirements about continuing to work from home.  These vary depending on the state or territory and are changing as restrictions start to ease. See our COVID-19 Fact Sheet - Official Directions to Work from Home for information and requirements for each jurisdiction.

Further information and resources on supporting employees through COVID-19 can be found here. Employers who require additional information should seek advice from Ai Group. Please call our Workplace Advice Line on 1300 55 66 77 for further assistance.
