A statutory entitlement to casual conversion was introduced into the National Employment Standards (NES) effective from 27 March 2021. For casual employees already employed when the NES entitlements commenced, there is a six-month transition period that expires on 27 September 2021. Before the end of the transitional period, an employer (other than a small business employer) is required to assess whether each casual employee is entitled to be offered conversion and provide notice to the employee about the result of that assessment.
