The South Australian Government introduced the Portable Long Service Leave Bill 2024 into Parliament on 17 September 2024. The Bill passed Parliament and was assented to on 3 October 2024: Portable Long Service Leave Act 2024.
The Act partly commenced by proclamation on 17 October 2024, to set up the framework for the implementation of the scheme and the remainder of the scheme commences from 1 October 2025.
The levy declared is 2.2% effective 1 October 2025.
The first return period will be 1 October – 31 December 2025.
