This sample letter is to be used when agreement has been reached to permanently vary the ordinary hours of a permanent employee due to the      COVID-19 pandemic.

It is vital that employers understand that they cannot force a permanent employee to reduce their ordinary hours. Any variation must be discussed between the two parties and an agreement reached.
