Ai Group congratulates new Federal Ministry

"Ai Group welcomes the announcement by the Prime Minister today of the new Federal Ministry for the returned Coalition Government," Ai Group Chief Executive, Innes Willox, said today.

"We welcome the reappointment of Ministers to key economic portfolios, and other areas of particular importance to business including education, defence, foreign affairs & trade, industry and energy.

"We welcome the appointment of Senator Michaelia Cash and Christian Porter as the new Ministers responsible for Jobs & Small Business and Industrial Relations respectively, and Steve Irons for taking on the important role of Vocational Education & Training and Apprentices.

"We congratulate Paul Fletcher on his appointment as Minister for Communications and Cyber Security, and Melissa Price as Minister for Defence Industry. We also welcome Bridget McKenzie's appointment as Minister for Agriculture.

"Congratulations are also extended to Senators Arthur Sinodinos and Mitch Fifield on their expected appointments to Washington and the United Nations respectively.

"It is crucial that the new cabinet and Ministers hit the ground running. Australia faces economic headwinds both internationally and domestically and the Government needs to work quickly to ensure that the Australian economy can meet the challenges it faces.

"Developing a robust and long-term productivity agenda for Australia is going to be the Government's main task over the next three years along with meeting business and community needs and expectations around keeping energy affordable and reliable while meeting our emissions targets," Mr Willox said.
