Ai Group and FACCI join forces to build capacity of Indigenous business community

Australia's peak Indigenous industry body has joined forces with the Australian Industry Group to bridge the gap between Australian businesses' aspirations for Indigenous engagement and the reality.

The First Australians Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FACCI) and the Australian Industry Group will provide their respective memberships with information and support based on their respective strengths to contribute to greater strategic partnering among FA Businesses and Ai Group Businesses.

"This is a great opportunity for our members to connect with FACCI members to form strategic partnerships in line with Australia’s Indigenous Procurement Policy intentions. This partnership will also provide members access to a credible source of information and resources to inform their own Reconciliation Action Plans, a subject that is of growing significance to our members," Innes Willox, Chief Executive of the Australian Industry Group, said today.

Deb Barwick, Chairperson, FACCI, said: "The existence of policy alone does not achieve change; however, the potential impact of policy is unlimited when Leadership and Enablers unite. We will use this partnership to continue our work in building the capacity of the First Australians Business Community. There is currently a wave of procurement spend heading towards First Australian Business Owners and we must do all that we can to enable a sustainable economic impact."

FACCI was established by the National Network of Indigenous Chambers of Commerce and Business Associations to represent the interests of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Businesses (“FA Businesses”) and to act as the Key Conduit between the First Australians Business Sector, Government and Corporate Australia. It is now the Peak Body representing the sector and in particular FA Businesses. Its motivating purpose is to locate and engage with First Australian Business Owners for meaningful procurement and economic growth for First Australian communities. http://facci.org.au/
