"Ai Group had argued for further consultation, analysis and assessment of the ACCC’s recommendations and the areas we will be focusing on in the coming discussions include:
- Amendments and reform of the Privacy Act;
- Changes to merger provisions, unfair contract terms and certain unfair trading practices; and
- Dispute resolution and complaint handling processes for digital platforms.
"These recommendations have economy-wide implications, given the proliferation of digital technologies. It is critical that the full range of affected stakeholders are engaged to ensure that the right balance is struck between protecting consumers and regulating businesses without creating blockages to innovation and unnecessary regulatory burdens.
"Ai Group and our members look forward to working closely with policy makers, governments and regulators to ensure an outcome that is in the best interests of industry and the broader community," Mr Willox said.
