Ai Group in Queensland has today released its Pre-election statement calling on the next State Government to not increase the State's net debt position and to enable a post COVID-19 economic recovery through encouraging businesses to grow.

"With new infections in Victoria falling convincingly, we now need to boost consumer and business confidence by rapidly reopening the State," Tim Piper, Victorian Head of the employer association Ai Group said today.

The Australian Industry Group has described the Victorian Government's industry package today as "just a beginning" of what will be needed by Victorian businesses as a result of the pandemic's crippling economic cost.

The national employer association Ai Group has proposed elements of a recovery plan for Victoria which looks beyond the current restrictions to promote a sustained recovery in consumer and business confidence, demand, renewed growth and employment in the state.

Tim Piper, Ai Group’s Victorian Head said: “A recovery plan for Victoria will work most effectively if it is the outcome of genuine consultation that creates a sense of joint Government, community and business ownership of the strategy."

"The revelations that the Victorian curfew was not based on health or police advice provides a strong argument for the Government to lift it immediately," Tim Piper, Victorian Head of the national employer association Ai Group said today.

The Australian Industry Group has called on the Victorian State Government to allow the current worker permits being used by industry to be extended into the second period of lockdown.
