The Productivity Commission (PC) will provide analysis and modelling to support continued progress on reform as part of a revitalised National Competition Policy.

The PC has been asked to look at:

• an occupational licensing scheme that provides for labour mobility nationally;
• adopting international and overseas standards and harmonising regulated standards across Australia; and
• any other reform options identified as a priority during the study.

Ai Group shares the Commission’s sense of urgency that productivity reform must be undertaken in earnest, but we also welcome the ambition of this analysis that looks to a long-term planning horizon in acknowledgement of the time it will take to generate enduring structural change.
