“Businesses are celebrating mask and quarantine changes announced by the new State Government today which bring South Australia in line with most other States,” Jodie van Deventer, the South Australian Head of the peak employer association Ai Group said.
“Staff absences due to some of the hardest quarantine rules in the country were causing major issues for local businesses trying to keep operations going.
“We particularly welcome that the quarantine period for household close contacts will be cut from 14 days to seven, subject to a negative RAT test, and that people will be considered close contacts when they have spent four hours, rather than 15 minutes, with a COVID positive person.
“As cases continued to rise, the current restrictions would have become unsustainable and our economy would have ground to a halt.
“These new rules bring South Australia in line with the rest of the nation and will be a huge help to our many thousands of members who have staff across numerous states and territories.
“Businesses look forward to the State Government maintaining its course as we work through the inevitable ups and downs of COVID-19,” Ms van Deventer said.
