Peak employer association Ai Group congratulates SA Labor on yesterday’s election win and looks forward to working with incoming Premier Peter Malinauskas and his team as they begin their first term of Government.
“It’s been a difficult few years and now that South Australians have made their decision, we can all focus on creating the best business environment possible in the face of challenges such as skills shortages, supply chain and climate change issues, geopolitical upheaval and rises in inflation,” Ai Group State Head Jodie van Deventer says.
“We’re particularly keen to work with the incoming Government to implement its election promises, particularly those focusing on job creation, infrastructure spending, education and regional opportunities.
“Five new technical colleges, two in the regions, will be instrumental in ensuring a secure pipeline for trade-based occupations, addressing critical skills shortages, while we support the reform of early childhood education to lift overall educational outcomes,
“We also look forward to understanding more about the Hydrogen Jobs Plan which is designed to lower electricity prices for business and industry, unlock a $20 billion pipeline of renewable energy projects and deliver thousands of new jobs.”
Ms van Deventer said one of the first tests for the incoming Government would be amending Return to Work laws which, if left unaddressed, would result in South Australia having some of the highest workcover premiums in the country.
She also thanked outgoing Premier Steven Marshall and his Government for working effectively with industry over the past four years and helping steer the state successfully through the global pandemic.
