"The NSW Premier’s tighter restrictions announced today get the balance right between keeping the economy going and stopping the spread of the virus," Helen Waldron, NSW Head of the national employer association Ai Group said today.

"Employers have been reminded to allow staff to work from home where they can but no new restrictions have been added to business operations.

"This proportionate response recognises that we can deal with the biggest risk of the virus spreading by restricting movement and gatherings but we can do this while still allowing businesses that can operate safely to continue to do so. Manufacturing and construction, transport and food services, for example, have been allowed to continue operations and they do so safely with COVID precautions in place.

"Businesses are doing the right thing in dealing with the latest outbreak and looking for new opportunities to support the vaccination effort as a pathway to living with COVID," Ms Waldron said.
