"The reimposition of tighter restrictions due to a rising number of Covid-19 cases in Victoria will batter already fragile business and consumer confidence," Innes Willox, Chief Executive of the national employer association Ai Group, said today.
"Just as things were slowly gathering momentum, for a state that was doing it harder than most, shutters will be pulled down and back to work plans shelved.
"The economic impact unfortunately will be hard and harsh. It will be even harder for businesses to resume at the next opportunity.
"For many business operators the reality is that optimism will be replaced by despair," Mr Willox said.
