The Australian Industry Group has called on the State Government to ease restrictions on Melburnians tomorrow, despite a number of new virus cases being found.

Tim Piper, the Victorian Head of the national employer association Ai Group, said that businesses are counting on the restrictions being eased significantly and many have invested in the likelihood of that happening.

"The Premier has given businesses every reason to expect an easing tomorrow. This should occur despite the new cases. We have to come to terms with living with the virus and keeping it under control. This is an example of that.

"Tomorrow is obviously a vital decision for businesses who are champing at the bit to open and need cash flow in the lead up to Christmas.

"The Government must lead the community and ensure they have the most effective tracking and tracing systems and isolation of people where necessary, in a manner that will allow businesses to open up at the same time," Mr Piper said.
